Sulaimani Cigarette Factory

The factory was built in 1961, and it was dismantled in 2003. Since 2012, the Organisation for Cultural Sustainability and Development has attempted the preservation of the factory with an aim to convert the landmark into a centre for culture and creativity. The project is an attempt to bring together the city’s cultural and artistic communities in order to develop cultural and educational projects such as, scientific centres, media production, educational centres, craftsmanship, galleries, museums...etc. The aim of the project is to create a place for cultural integration and a centre for dialogue on a national and international level.
